The rules are simple:
1. Read at least one non-fiction book about each of the U.S. Presidents
2. Take as much time as you need
3. Have fun learning about U.S. history and its leaders
When I first saw this challenge I wondered how in the world anyone would have time to read a book about each president in a year. Then I took a closer look and saw that there is no time limitation to this challenge.
This year I am committing to read three books about U.S. presidents. Which means that if I keep this pace I should finish the challenge in about 16 years, which is just silly. But I'm not looking at the end goal right now. I figure that learning something about the presidents is better than nothing.
Here are my choices:
1. The American Journey of Barack Obama - Time Life
2. The Greatest Speeches of John F. Kennedy
3. The Final Days - Carl Berstein and Bob Woodward

Welcome to the Project, Alyce! I agree with you. Unless a person has a whole lot more time than most of us do, a book about each President in one year would be a bit much. :-) Three is a great start!

Hi--
Just stopping by to get caught up with your blog after taking a little break. Wow -- you are ambitious! I was looking over your various challenges and was getting tired!!! You have a lot of fun and interesting books ahead of you. The President challenge sounds interesting -- especially since there is no timeline! I really should know more about this topic, and I know there are supposed to be some good books out there. I like the ones you chose. Perhaps I will take this on as part of a self-improvement challenge.
I love your New Year's resolutions too! They sound pretty doable. I'm working on mine and will probably post them as perhaps public shame and accountabiltiy will help me keep them.
Looking forward to more of your blog in the new year!
I joined this one too, I'm pretty sure I'll never finish it.
I never thought about doing this challenge out of sequential order, but thanks for the idea! Instead of wasting time searching for the perfect George Washington book, I can get started on another one.
*smart lady, that Alyce* :)
I recommend Truman - I read that when I moved to Missouri. I need to read something about JFK now that I'm in Mass.
This sounds like fun. I'm looking forward to your reviews of the first three books, Alyce. I've read quite a bit about FDR, but that's the extent of my presidential reading!
