Friday Finds & Library Loot - July 17

Friday Finds is hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. This week I added the following books to my wish list:

A Simple Plan by Scott Smith - Discovered at Find Your Next Book Here.

Modern Spice - Found at Age 30+ on last week's Friday Finds post.

Ladies First: 40 Daring American Women Who Were Second to None - This is geared for a younger audience (9-12) but I thought it looked like a great book. I discovered it at the National Geographic books page.

Gift From the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh - Also discovered at Find Your Next Book Here.

Library Loot is hosted by Eva at A Striped Armchair and Marg at Reading Adventures. Here are the books that I checked out this week:

In Search of Our Roots by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. - Fascinating looking book about tracing the origins of Americans of African descent. It includes information on the ancestry of 19 people, some famous (Oprah Winfry, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Rock, and more).

The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon - I'm not sure I'll have time to read this, but I picked it up anyway.

Gathering Blue by Lois Lowery - A spinoff sequel to The Giver.

The Art of Making Money: The Story of a Master Counterfeitor by Jason Kersten - Sounded like a good read.

Law of Connection by Michael J. Losier - It has something to do with communication and linguistics, so that was enough for me to pick it up and check it out.

The Case of the Missing Servant by Tarquin Hall - I'm in the middle of this one right now and enjoying it so far.

My 12th grade English teacher read A Gift from the Sea aloud to us just before we graduated high school. Wonderful, dream-like prose. Poetry, really. Hope you like it!

Hi there!

What a lot of great book covers. Actually a Simple Plan seems quite intriguing to me - despite that being the least good looking cover! LOL

Have a great weekend! My Friday Fill in can be found HERE!

And here's my Friday Find

You've got some great reads there. I read Gift From the Sea many (many, many) years ago and liked it at the time. Don't really remember that much about it now. And I just finished The Angel's Game - trying to write a review at present. It's an interesting book, but takes a while to get started.

A Gift From the Sea sounds like a good read not to mention having a really pretty cover. My Friday Finds is here.

Oh I feel so honored that you added two books to your wish list based on my recommendations!

And I have to say, I love concept of the Ladies First book! Sounds like a great Girl Power book to me! A good companion to your Madeline Albright pick!

I loved A Gift from the Sea when I read it years ago. I also love the cover for the Lowry book! (Oh and I mentioned one of your Friday Finds from last week in my post this week.)
